You never know what treasures you'll find shopping in American cities with a history as rich as our own - connected to worlds of culture as vast as New York City, New Orleans, and the Gulf of Mexico, via the I&M Canal. It's this unique confluence of people and goods that make flea markets in Northern Illinois so popular among collectors. Whether you love vintage clothes, or hope to take home a piece of local artwork, you're sure to find more than what you're looking for in the Antiques & Artisans Market, less than 5 minutes from our resort.
"Where the Past Meets the Present"
The first Saturday of every month all summer, regional vendors fill the campus of LaSalle County Historical Society, selling everything from rare antiques, coveted collectibles, and pristine pieces of the past, to handmade crafts, homegrown creations, and original artwork. Plan on spending some time, as booths stretch both indoors and out.
About the Historical Society
Dating back to 1907, LaSalle County Historical Society has been dedicated to preserving the deep-rooted history of Northern Illinois. The building that is now the museum began as a granary and warehouse in 1848. Built entirely of locally quarried sandstone, today it houses a number of educational exhibits, including a collection of rare American Indian artifacts, and a recreation of pioneer home life in the 1850s.
