Starved Rock
Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort.
Where water park fun meets natural wonder…and all that the Starved Rock area has to offer!
Grizzly Jacks Grand Bear Resort is located next to Starved Rock State Park, one of the most scenic parks in Illinois. You can hike the trails, explore the canyons or fish the Illinois River. The 18 dramatic sandstone canyons at Starved Rock were formed by glacial melting and stream erosion. The natural beauty is breathtaking. You can also climb Starved Rock itself and learn about the true legend of a group of Illinois Indians who died there in the 1700′s.
Have a great outdoor adventure with your family in a wonderful natural setting.
The trails are designed for easy hiking and climbing. Steps are built over the roughest terrain so everyone can enjoy the scenery. You can bird watch, see a white-tailed deer a bald eagle or raccoon family. There are plenty designated picnic areas and spots to fish the river with the kids.
After your Starved Rock adventure, head back to Grand Bear Falls for a
relaxing dip and a grand night’s sleep!
There’s always the waterpark and the amusement park, but the Starved Rock area has just about every kind of activitiy you can think of.
If you’ve never hiked through the canyons at Starved Rock, you’re really missing something. Trails are maintained and steps are built over the really rough terrain, so you can bring the whole family. And if you’re a golfer, there are family-friendly courses just a few miles from Grizzly Jack’s. For those who like the water, there’s fishing, boat rentals, canoeing and even white-water rafting (Beginner’s Level).
