Enjoy live music in the great outdoors this summer! Plan a weekend getaway to our family resort in Illinois. The Music in the Park concert series takes place every Saturday evening at Washington Park in nearby Ottawa. These free shows are a popular summer tradition. These free concerts attract families from all over the region near Starved Rock State Park. You'll hear everything from classic rock n' roll to high-energy gospel music. Don't be surprised if you find the kids dancing on the lawn!
The concerts run right through the end of August. Upcoming shows include The Downtowners on July 26th, The Generics on August 9th, Rhythm Rockets on August 16th, and Mary Pfeiffer and The Troublemakers on August 24th. The summer concludes with a show by The Jim Markum Band on August 30th. Music in the Park takes place every Saturday evening during the summer. Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort is about a 20-minute drive from the event. The fun kicks off at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm, so you can have the family back in your King Suite or Luxury Cabin before bedtime.
History buffs will be interested in knowing that Washington Park was the location of the first Lincoln-Douglas debate in 1858. Today the park is a quaint city square with memorials and green open space for families. The rain location for the concert series is located at 807 Lasalle Street in Ottawa just a block from Washington Park.
