Scenic Vermillion & Illinois River Rafting in the Northwoods

Action-Packed Sightseeing & Illinois River Rafting
Part white-water thrills, part peacefully scenic tour, few things compare to the sheer fun of rafting. With the Illinois River to the north and Vermillion River to the south, you've got several options when it comes to watery recreation at Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort.

Vermillion River Rafting
779 North 2249th Road
Oglesby, IL 61348
(815) 667-5242
Affordably priced at $30 per adult and $25 per child (ages 8-16), self-guided white-water rafting tours from this trusted local outfitter run approximately 3-4 hours, helmets and life jackets included. Please note that fees are cash-only, and departure times are 9am-2pm, just 5 minutes south of our resort.

About the Tour
Towering cliffs and white-capped waters carry you through some of the most picturesque scenery in the state. If you enjoy fishing, be sure to bring your gear and a picnic lunch, because the river is full of spots to toss in a line. The run is 9.5 miles, and even though its self-guided, experienced rafters will offer full instructions before you push-off. No matter your skill level, the waters are guaranteed to satisfy, ranked at roughly Class III out of six. Be sure to wear clothing you don't mind getting wet, along with an old pair of tennis or watershoes (flip-flops tend to get lost). You may also want to bring a cooler for beverages, sunscreen, and a lariat for your sunglasses.

Starved Rock State Park
On weekends and holidays, peacefully paddle the Illinois River with canoe rentals at the water near the Visitor's Center parking lot. The price is $30 an hour, limited to 3 passengers per vessel.
